Sunny periods & a few small/ medium cumulus, mainly (but not wholly) inland. Currently (11:40) 16.6C Wind around Force 3 NW, DP 9C, so a a fairly fresh feel. 20+ basking sharks at Sennen earlier in the week, I missed them. Graham Penzance |

Yes. Usually come out late June/July, can be a real nuisance on still evenings, fortunately we don't get a lot of those in the more exposed locations, a little bit of wind and they all disappear. More of a problem in the campsites as they tend to be in valleys and near rivers. Wind is a good thing in summer. Will -- |

Wow! I've only ever seen one basking shark, and that was on Gwenver Beach, Sennen. A load of seagulls were harassing it, but it seems unperturbed and gently swam north towards Cape Cornwall. Best time I had at Sennen was when surfing and 4 bottlenosed dolphins joined us, the dolphins were huge and they never got very close but to see them surfing for fun, as we were doing in the waves was magical. Sun's oot, rather nice in the garden. A lie down in the hammock with a cold beer is called for. Just doubled my rainwater storing capacity to 400 litres. (12:45) 19.3C, RH 56%, DP 10.0C, 1018.7 hPa (R), Wind 10 mph NW. ________________ Nick. Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

Despite a coldish winter, this year has been very bad particularly mornings and evenings. Sunny afternoons are usually OK. I don't think you'd like it here as we have to sleep with the bedroom windows closed or die in the attempt. Just wondered. -- Alan White Mozilla Firefox and Forte Agent. Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amslhttp://www.ottervalley.co.uk Drifting wildly OT now, but do let me know when you're next down this part of the world, I've got a large collection of body boards, (partly due to our vistors not being able to fit them in the car on the way home!) See www.marinediscovery.co.uk/sightings.html for some recent shark/ dolphin pics Still on the wildlife front, at least 5 people have been bitten by adders at Gwithian in the last few weeks, one was hospitalised for a week. Graham Penzance Maybe it's the same adder........with a grudge! The only Basking shark I've ever seen was looking down from the cliffs at Tintagel castle. Wonderful sight. It has been a lovely day, today, in the SW, Will. Jealousy will get them nowhere! Paul |
