Oh my This is a terribly grim place. The weather is normally abysmal. The
people are either locals who hate you setting foot in the county or ex Londoners who bought up all the pokey little cottages which tends to be ideally stereotypical and everyone hates them for sure. The pubs are distantly unfriendly to tourists (locals are welcomed) and the proprieters glare at you as though you come from outer space. The panorama is nothing, not a patch, on the scale of Snowdonia or most of beautiful Scotland. Its overrun with with hikers and cars because the region isn't THAT large. Over rated theres nothing there when you need it but IS perhaps when you dont, like a crappy roadside disgustingly fatty burger trailer with overpriced teas except in central Exeter but then I expect thats how it should be.To cap it all you have Will Hand head local chief in command senior water dowser and Meteorological Self Healer, Paul Dawlish from the rabbit Warren, his sidekick, Dave Naylor t'other side of the Moor often cannot be found, Nick 'the Otter' Gardner always building a damn for himself and several east & West Dorset types who try to be part of the cult. ANY OFFENCE CAUSED IS NOT INTENDED regards Dave R |

It has got to be better than Reading. Just for info Dave R, I do find your article offensive and not amusing in the slightest. Why bother to prodiuce such a rant, when you knew that it would cause offence to some? Looks as though you are heading for the 'blocked senders folder'. Pity, because sometimes you do have something sensible to say regarding the weather. Eric, Reading |

Ha! Hmmm, amusing.
The panorama is nothing, not a patch, on the scale of Snowdonia or most of beautiful Scotland. Now that is one thing that Dartmoor has got; Dartmoor exudes panoramic views, see he http://www.btinternet.com/~nickgardn...r068ssmall.jpg And after spending many weekends walking on Dartmoor I can say that is has some of the finest ancient oak woodlands in the British Isles. http://www.btinternet.com/~nickgardn...or095small.jpg Dartmoor also has stunning wooded valleys, some of the best I have ever seen: http://www.btinternet.com/~nickgardn...hCleeve067.jpg And beautiful river valleys aplenty: http://www.btinternet.com/~nickgardn...hCleeve064.jpg Plus a history spanning back 1000s of years of settlements, stones circles and mining: http://www.btinternet.com/~nickgardn...artmoor024.jpg I've only been exploring Dartmoor for a couple of years now but the variety and rugged beauty of the place makes it very special, and quite unlike anywhere else. Dartmoor was also voted the number one natural wonder of the South West, beating even the Jurassic Coast. Dave, methinks you could be a little envious...... Sunshine and beefy showers here today. A max of 20.3°C. ________________ Nick. Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |
