Here is a summary of the NWP output for noon (GMT) on Tuesday.
Issued 0508z, 25th July 2008 ECM shows gradually less settled conditions spreading across the UK next week, as a low to the west moves slowly closer to the UK. GFS shows a ridge giving way to a col, which would lead to slow-moving heavy showers. Analysis and evolution to T+120 via GFS http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rtavn001.png High pressure lies to the NE, with ESE'lies across the UK. Tomorrow a col covers the UK and the same is true on Sunday. By Monday SE'lies and ESE'lies cover the UK, as pressure falls to the SW. T+120 synopsis http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rtavn12014.png / http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rtavn1201.png http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rukm1201.gif http://85.214.49.20/pics/Recm1201.gif / http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/nogapse_cartes.php The jetstream chart continues to show a blocking ridge to the east, with a split jet to the west. The UK lies under the western portion of the ridge. At the 500hPa level there are SSW'lies due to a weak trough over Scotland. MetO has an upper trough over England and Wales, while ECM has a stronger trough over the UK. GEM has a discrete upper low over England. At the surface GFS has a col, with light winds for all. MetO also has a col for most, with a shallow low over SE England. ECM brings SW'lies with a trough over northern Scotland and GEM shows a low over the Irish Sea, with easterlies to the north and SW'lies and SSW'lies further south. Evolution to T+168 Day 6 with ECM shows southerlies and SSE'lies, as low pressure deepens to the west. On day 7 the winds become SE'lies . GFS shows a ridge over the UK on day 6, with NE'lies for England and Wales and SSE'lies elsewhere. The ridge persists on day 7. Looking further afield On day 8 with ECM cyclonic southerlies cover the UK, with lows to the west and ESE. On day 9 a trough crosses Scotland, with SW'lies elsewhere. By day 10 the trough deepens over Northern Ireland and Scotland, with SSW'lies elsewhere. A col covers the UK on days 8 to 10 with GFS. Ensemble analysis (http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/gra...ille=Lond res) The ensembles show a prolonged warm period. |
