Hmm, spoke too soon. Currently (14:10) 31.0C with Dew Pt remaining at
18-19C.
This is admittedly in a reasonably open but back-garden exposure, with
hedges etc around 5m away and also at present directly over bare
earth, though with a largish area of grass just a foot or two away. So
it's possibly over-reading by a degree or so compared to a very open
exposure over grass. But the actual reading is (fortuitously no doubt
in the precision of agreement) identical currently from 2 side-by-sde
VP/VP2 stations.

It'll be interesting to see the outcome of the warmest UK temp today.
A good chance of me winning the first part of my bet at 87-90F in July
at 6/1. outside chance of 90F+ at 7/1 tomorrow. Both bets were staked
on the 21st. The possibility of these hot temperatures has been on the
charts since then, though the absolute max has always been in doubt -
and still is. If I lose the bets, it will have been very close and
well worth the excitement of the stake. If either bet comes off, it
won't hit the hieghts of 2006, when I pocketed nearly £1500 when
Wisley hit 97F! Ah, happy days!

As an addendum to that, I just added to my 90F bet at 20/1 on Betfair.
The possibility is there tomorrow and I think the odds on that are
well below 20/1. I think someone isn't watching the temperatures this
afternoon! Fingers crossed for that one!

32 posts, none contributing anything all about meteorology, every
single one talking about me. I'm flattered, but there's true
addiction, my stalker.
