I've had that happen, too - which temperature should be recorded as the
maximum in such circumstances?

I suspect that the console reading is correct but the temperature was at
that level for such a short time that it was not transferred to the logger
memory. A rounding up or down error is a possibility as well.

It would be rather laborious to inspect all of the maximum and minimum
readings on the console against the logger readings so I use the logger
readings. I have noticed this effect before but in this case it did stand
out.

If John Dann reads this perhaps he could give provide an authoritative
reason for the discrepancy.
