What a contrast to yesterday's warm sunshine.
At 14:00 yesterday it was 21.5C with sunny spells, after a glorious morning. Today, after a cloudy but basically dry morning with the ( temperature 16.5-17C mid morning), by 14:00 it was very cool & wet with the temp 15.6C. That's 6C lower than yesterday & the coolest afternoon for a very long time. St Ives weather shows todays maximum temperature was at midnight http://www.nci-stives.org/weather/Cu...antage_Pro.htm , typical of west Cornwall. Graham Penzance |

Graham Penzance Cloudy start with some rain in places. However, it should brighten from the west this morning to leave some sunny intervals, but also some showers. It should feel pleasantly warm inland in any sunshine. Maximum temperature 21 °C. From M.O. 16.56 GMT Forecast looks a bit out at the moment down there Graham looking at the radar I would think a Flash was in order? |

Started raining here around 2pm and the temperature has been dropping ever since. Reached a max of 19.0°C this morning after an overnight low at 3am with 16.6°C; current temperature is 15.6°C. How often in the summer time is it warmer at 3am in the morning than 3pm the following day!! Something I would have expected in the winter but not in early August. I have to go all the way back to the 28th of May to find an afternoon temperature lower than this afternoon's dismal effort. (16:30), 15.6°C, RH 83%, DP 13.0°C, 1009.8 hPa (F), Wind 3 mph WSW, Rain last 24 hrs 3.2 mm. ________________ Nick. Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

It has been a very wet afternoon, but the rainfall rate has never been too high. The most annoying thing about the regional MetO forcasts is they are so rarely updated. This afternoon's rain was plain to see on the radar by mid morning. The very cool conditions which accompanied the rain, (14.9C here at it's lowest mid afternoon, that's the lowest mid afternoon here temperature since May) were not even hinted at. In fact it was supposed to be warmer, not 6C colder. The temperature graph at http://www.nci-stives.org/weather/Cu...antage_Pro.htm shows the drop in temperature after a warm night. Graham Penzance |

![]() After the rain, a rise in the temperature and a very sharp clearance to virtually cloud free skies. Lovely sunset at St Ives. www.easterling.freeserve.co.uk/SI.html with plenty on Porthmeor to watch it. Graham Penzance |
