Default August 2008 vs 1992

August 1992 was the last time I recall the weather being this dull/
cool/wet (combined) at this time of year. Out of interest, how are we
comparing so far? i.e. are we on about 40% of the 1992 rainfall and
sunshine, and a similar mean temperature? Or is this month looking
even worse than 1992, or not as bad?

Nick

I recall that month well as it was the month I finally moved to
Australia. I left the UK in the "summer" and arrived to a Sydney
"winter". One day I was in long ones the next shorts.

Max temperature today in Sydney 16C (after an overnight low of 6C), DP -2C,
Mean wind speed 22 mph.

That would feel pretty cool in my books.

Current temperature in Sydney (17:15 BST) 9C, DP 0C, Mean wind NW 13 mph.

Hardly shorts weather!!

Too true Nick. This has been, ironically the coolest and greyest start
to an August I can recall in NSW since 1992. It makes quite a pleasant
change to be honest.
