Well as I don't work fridays anymore the weekend starts on a friday for me!

Sunny with Ci and ISOL Cu/Ac patches.
Wonderful excellent visibility again with the sun glinting on the distant
sea.
Temperature 12.6C DP 10.8C
Wind W F2-3

Perfect day for getting the myriad of jobs done in the garden after the
holidays without getting too sweaty.

More info and the Dartmoor forecast as usual at

Sunshine recorder turned on at 06:15 this morning.

A cold night with a low of 6.3°C making it the coldest night since the 17th
June (5.1°C). My grass minimums are often higher than air minimums in the
summer hence a grass min of 6.6°C last night.

(09:40), 13.1°C, RH 85%, DP 10.9°C, 1016.8 hPa (R), Wind 3 mph SSW.

We've got some thin cirrostratus in Dawlish, but it's not interfering
with some lovely sunshine. Much of the country, away from the North of
Scotland and the NW of N. Ireland is experiencing a similar nice day.
Working on a presentation today and rather regretting that I've left
it to do, instead of doing it on the wet days. Off to rainy (as it
will be tommorrow) Cornwall, for a week, in the morning. Looking
forward to more gold medals this weekend for Team GB!

The Sea Kings have just left from the field next to the Smugglers,
Will. A great day yesterday! I hope the crews had a good time in there
last night!

Hi Nick, down to 6.5C here last night (normal Min. is 11.7), grass very wet
this morning.
Now 15.8C which is very pleasant in the warm sunshine. Just planted out my
leeks, runners starting to form beans, french beans flowering and broad
beans and peas in crop. Cucumbers have failed and marrows are very slow, it
has been a difficult growing season up here. Mind you I have had the best
crop of turnips in my life, they have loved the cool wet conditions. Sprouts
growing nicely.

Cloud has been building and now around 5/8 and a temperature of 18.9°C. You
never know, it could even make it up to the average.

I am having the best crop of runners and French beans in years, they seem to
like these conditions. Been picking them since June. Tomatoes are OK, not
the best crop but they are keeping a steady stream going. As you say,
turnips have been amazing, so have the marrows and courgettes. Chillies are
doing well and I have just started picking those. My cucumbers failed too
but not due to the wet weather, they developed a disease which caused them
to shrivel up when they were still young plants. It affected the toms too
but they recovered. I've looked through all the books and the nearest
explanation is the mosaic virus but the symptoms were a bit different.

The vines are loaded which bunches of grapes which are swelling now, and
even the olive tree has produced olives, despite the distinctly non-Med-like
weather.

Another wet weekend ahead?

Been cool, cloudy, breezy & disappointing here, now it's raining.
http://www.nci-stives.org/basiccamera.htm

Even Wednesday was much better here, at least the afternoon was sunny
and it reached 18.8C. Today's been a real contrast to yesterdays'
prolonged warm sunshine. Looking at XCWeather I see that many places
in the west of the UK are distinctly cool, at 15:50 Plymouth was 15C,
even cooler than Penzance.
