Is that true? Why doesn't the sea rush in then ;-( Dave |

The paper should try checking there own weather forecast for accuracy! Gary Bournemouth (Town Centre) Actually I have sympathy with the article, after the numerous times recently when the the MetO site has shown a forecast locally which is blatantly wrong, & never gets updated. So it continues to forecast fog or rain, when it's been sunny all day (or vica versa) On the plus side I have received a response regarding my comments on Camborne, which can reports weather which has little to do with reality. The response was long and detailed, accepted some problems and went on to say improvements were being looked at, which I feel was a re-assuring response. Although as Camborne (or Cambourne according to the reply) is manned I'm not sure that automatic sensors can take all the blame. It included the following:- *** As is noted on these pages, observations are subject to final quality control checks after publication on this web site. However, you would reasonably expect observations of present weather to be consistent with that experienced at the location in question. To improve the presentation of this data, we plan to include details on the web site to show which locations do not report current weather to explain any discrepancy between what is appearing on the web site and what is actually happening. However in a few sites, including the particular case you refer to the cloud sensors are not recording the cloud amount correctly and this is leading to incorrect cloud information appearing. We are taking steps to address this as we upgrade our observing systems. Please accept my apologies for any information that is appearing on our web site which you feel is misleading. *** Graham Penzance |
