Dire here, only 19.6C, thick grey cloud and windy. No 24C, no bright spells. Dave, S.Essex. |

A lovely sunny afternoon and evening after a generally cloudy morning. A
total of 5.8 hours of bright sunshine today and a maximum of 23.4°C. Sunshine for this August has now past the 100 hours mark with 101.4 hours. Pretty dismal when compared to the 252 hours recorded in August 2007. Hopefully a lovely week to come which should help to push the SST up a bit from the relatively cool 17°C which it is at the moment in Lyme Bay. Usually the end of August sees the highest sea temperatures, last year at this time the SST was 21°C. ________________ Nick. Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

Breezy with a F4-5 earlier today now eased a bit. Patchy drizzle and cloud in morning but sunny spells later (at least as far as I could tell looking up from Newton Abbot on my way walking to Teignmouth). Will -- |
