The total of 23.5mm rain is much greater than my total; the combined total
for yesteday and today up to now is 11.3mm. It illustrates clearly how
rainfall amounts can vary over a realatively small area.

Indeed it does. We had 2 spells of torrential rain yesterday. One
approximately 0845-0945z and the other approx 1545-1645z. The radar
showed that they were both very localised.
