Default Hurricane Ike

This looks horrendous guys, but what fantastic coverage and info packed the
Americans do things,we are only occasionally allowed to mention the Jet
Stream in the Met Office forecasts !.
How will it ever be possible to break the stranglehold 'the experts' have
over British weather data and forecasts ?

Angry surf?

Looks a bit more than an F4 off Colwyn Bay.

Maybe an F5?

Don't get too carried away with the coverage Ron. While I was away last week
the only English speaking TV channel was CNN and their weather girl said "
here you can see hurrican Ike (shows map) - all this massive amount of
downward pressure is forcing the water up causing a surge leading to the
flooding" (sic)

There was a Radio 4 piece this morning about Haiti. Haiti is the
poorest country in the whole of the Americas. It has been hit by 4
tropical storms/hurricanes in a row and the country is in desparate
straits.

Not helped by decades of dictatorship, a prevalence of superstitions
and a hideous rich-poor gap. Potentially, Haiti could have a
prosperous agricultural and tourist industry, but supersition and
tribal violence means this is a far off dream.

Why do you think that is? Please qualify your remark as I'm not sure
what you mean.
