Default Today's model interpretation (18/09/08)

Note: I've to leave early today - hence this is a shorter analysis. Normal
service will be resumed tomorrow morning.

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon (GMT) on Monday. Issued
0453z, 18th September 2008.

The first half of next week will see high pressure over Scotland and
Northern Ireland, with the potential for some cold nights should skies stay
clear. England and Wales look like seeing northerlies or NE'lies, with
eastern areas seeing more in the way of cloud.

ECMWF: http://85.214.49.20/wz/pics/Recm1201.gif
Northerlies cover much of the UK due to a ridge to the west. On day 6 the
ridge moves over Scotland and Northern Ireland, leaving northerlies for
England and Wales. On day 7 pressure builds over the UK, with light winds
for all areas except SE England, which remains under northerlies.

MetO: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/da...ukmo/pslv.html
MetO shows a ridge over Scotland and Northern Ireland, with NNE'lies
elsewhere. There's little change on day 6.

GFS: http://85.214.49.20/wz/pics/Rtavn1201.png
High pressure is centred to the west of Scotland. Northerlies and NE'lies
cover the UK as a result. On day 6 the high moves over Scotland, leading to
NE'lies for England, ENE'lies for Wales and easterlies for Northern Ireland.
There's little change on day 7.

GEM: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/da.../gem/pslv.html
The Canadian run shows high pressure to the west and, like MetO, a ridge
over Scotland and Northern Ireland. England and Wales lie under NNE'lies.

JMA: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rjma1201.gif
The Japanese run brings high pressure to the north, resulting in NE'lies for
all.
