Default Dense Fog Southampton (E) area

Dense fog has developed in the East Southampton - Fareham area during
the last hour (before 10 pm BST). Visibility is down to 50 metres (no
kidding) in the Hamble valley and 100 to to 150 metres on the
adjacent higher ground i.e. everywhere else.

This is based on a 4 mile car drive from Bursledon heading East.

Some TV forecasts have underplayed it, suggesting fog by morning. This
is serious stuff - right now.

Similar conditions for a while here in Bournemouth. Not unusual and it
was mentioned on the local radio that it could be misty tonight.

Hi Dave,

Nearly got lost wandering outside just now to compile my last
observation of the day! The visibility is about 80 metres here,
and the moon has disappeared.
