Sorry about the delay in getting round to this, but my Davis VP2 in north
Cheshire [1] anemometer recorded a single "hi wind speed" figure of 75.7 knots at about 11:30 (BST) on Saturday 25th. This is so extraordinary that I wonder whether anyone in this area can corroborate it? The rest of the day was in the 20 knot region (still quite high for round these parts). It's also been pretty wet - so far, October's rainfall (5") here is 177mm, well over twice the average of the local MetO stations. The preceding three months were also well above average.
