Irregular covering of small hail many surfaces (including well-trafficked road), but melting well. OAT dropped from 10°C to 4.5°C within 3 mins. [WR] 1745Z .. West Moors/East Dorset RE-RA
... (1624Z): sudden onset of moderate rain/small hail, with wind
picking up smartly (possibly a 'technical' squall). ... (1627Z): now heavy shower rain/hail - ground going white in places. ... (1631Z): hail ceased, rain down to slight, wind eased considerably. Irregular covering of small hail many surfaces (including well-trafficked road), but melting well. OAT dropped from 10°C to 4.5°C within 3 mins. .... (1745Z): shower - rain (i.e., layer cloud origin), with said rain finally petering out ~17Z. Rainfall (includes melted small hail, which I had to 'help' to melt, given that the temperature is falling smartly), was 3.8 mm. Isolated minor 'drifts' of hail left round the back, and a scattering of hail on grass/mulched surfaces etc. Cloud thin and breaking: OAT currently 2.3°C.
