Cold, dry and sunny. The coldest in my records (average 7.5C, and
probably the coldest in the area since 1992. The average minima were
particularly low.

Average maxima = 11.1 (-1.4)
Average minima = 3.9 (-2.4)
Mean = 7.5 (-2.0)
Highest maximum = 17.2 (10th)
Lowest maximum = 3.5 (28th)
Lowest minimum = -2.4 (30th)
Total rainfall = 47.0 (58%, with 12.4 mm on the 7th)

21 October. The first snow of the year - a little sleet in a light
shower late morning - the earliest date on which it has fallen here in
my records (since 1995).

28 October. Cold snap. The first air frost of the year, with -0.2. This
is followed by my new record low maximum for October, just 3.5C, easily
beating the record of 23 October 2002 (5.6C).



All readings (except grass minimum) from a slightly less new shiny
Davis Vantage Pro 2 (but the little plastic grid that covers the rain
gauge disappeared within a fortnight; I suspect a blakbird).
