I know Graham Parker so if you want to get in contact again, drop me a
note and I'll pass on his email address. Currently lives in Norwich.

The best thing I remember about Jack was his stories and jokes on a night
shift at London Weather Centre, never a dull moment when Jack was on, and he
took his turn to make tea!

My favourite TV forecaster has always been Jim Bacon, but Jack was one of
the best; rest in peace my friend.

Why did Jim Bacon move to regional TV in the end?

I use to love that style of weather man and presentation, now it
seems to be a conveyor belt of 'boys own' *and 'Girls Aloud'
lookalikes. *Of course my nostalgia for the likes of Jack *wasn't
only that he was a real meteorologist who presented in a serious
way; it was also the fact that he had very intersting weather to
forecast more so in the Autumn and Winter. Alas the likes of Jack
and those winters have left us maybe never to return?

I agree. Seemed like a nice chap. Makes me feel old.

I completely endorse the sentiments of all other weather enthusists
here.
I grew up watching Jack on the 'telly'. I'm sure his natural modesty
would prevent him from realising the inspiration he gave to one young
boy (and no doubt countless others) in persuing a career in
forecasting. Without the magic of Scott, Foord, Parker, Best et al, I
would not be doing what I'm doing today.

And don't forget the first of them all, George Cowling, who is still
with us today.

Very sorry to hear this ... he provided me with
considerable guidance and encouragement behind
the scenes when started out in broadcasting ... and
when I was officially "the opposition".

RIP.

As well as his broadcasts being clear and informative, he came across as
being a very nice man.

It was certainly easy to keep awake if you shared a night-shift with him!

I too remember Jack Scott's clear and professional style of presenting the
TV forecasts and I am sorry to hear of his death.

As an "outsider" in the field of meteorology, I was intrigued and slightly
excited to find myself sitting next to him once at a Royal Meteorological
Society Saturday meeting - I think it must have been in 1983, shortly after
his retirement.

I can remember clearly the times in the late 1960's that I tuned into the 6
0'clock bulletins. I believe these were broadcast before the News at 6 in
those days and after majic roundabout- correct me if I am wrong For me
those days formed my deep seated interest in the weather, particularly as
already mentioned during the extreme snow and frost events of that era. He
was the best along with Bert Foord and Graham Parker.
