Woke this morning to grey skies, light to moderate wind and
thawing snow. No sign of the blizzards forecast for last night. Fifteen minutes ago the Met Office still had a severe weather warning for the whole of Scotland and much of northern England. Now it is only for eastern Scotland and northern England, and the weather it predicts has been revised from heavy snow and strong winds to outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow. Wish I had a reliable crystal ball. Then I'd have arranged to be in Aberdeen today, and gone out for a good walk in yesterday's sunshine. Anne To reply replace the rock with my surname |

![]() It's pretty grim down here Dundee way. it's stooped snowing, but there's several centimetres, and I'm not going anywhere today. The big question is will the post still get through? When "they" say "blizzards", I don't know what they mean any more. i take a blizzard to be snow with gale force, or at least strong, winds. It's coming just to mean "quite heavy snow". Even the wife uses it that way now, in spite of many years of correction. I think "they" now use blizzard in the same way as everyone else. Disgusted, of near Dundee. What he said and: Things must be pretty bad in the moral fibre in this country when we have to refer to snow in French to make it sound deeper. Hard to believe we won two world wars and a home match world cup. The good old days are dead and buried in a whisper of snow. I cry for what we lost along with hardship. I cry for the future of our women and our daughters given to sno men. How will they cope without sex? Gone away are their gonads here to stay are home lads bemoaning the sight of a snowy winter's night remembering the time when men were men. |

It's pretty grim down here Dundee way. it's stooped snowing,
but there's several centimetres, and I'm not going anywhere today. The big question is will the post still get through? I've had no post today, but it may be that there just wasn't anything for me. It's what I would describe as 'raw'. Temperature must be above freezing because the thaw is continuing, but it's chill and dank and the wind has dropped and the sky continues to be uniformly grey. When "they" say "blizzards", I don't know what they mean any more. i take a blizzard to be snow with gale force, or at least strong, winds. That is what I would mean if I used the term. It's coming just to mean "quite heavy snow". Even the wife uses it that way now, in spite of many years of correction. I think "they" now use blizzard in the same way as everyone else. Please include me out of 'they'. I know what I mean by a blizzard, which definitely involves strong winds blowing the snow around. And I didn't use the word 'they' in my message. Disgusted, of near Dundee. Not sure if you're disgusted by the weather, or by the misuse of the language, or both. Equally disgusted (by both), of Fochabers. |
