Default Shades of 2006 ?..

EC, both in terms of its operational and ensemble output, is supporting a
build of upper contours and surface pressure in the vicinity of the UK early
next week. Perhaps not too dissimilar to what happened in 2006 e.g.

.... good spot Jon! I notice that the GFS Op has also (with run-to-run
variation) been indicating a build of contour/mslp values towards the
middle of next week, so with the EC also showing that trend, it's got
to be taken seriously.

Martin.

I used to think Fog was a thing of the past until Dec 2006 ! 4 consecustive
days of Fog. It was the longest period that I could remember. Still, the
amazing thing was, that with modern technology (Cat3 ILS) we managed over
1000 movements per day in Low Vis Conditions (out of a normal days 1350) -
obviously with associated delays but an achievement nonetheless.

Dont really want a repeat!

Phil
