Default Subtle changes I feel.

Temperature topped at 3.5°C today at 13:58, but one thing I have noticed
is the visibility has get better now. Also to note is the dewpoint
actually rose to +0.9°C this afternoon, it's dropped below now together
with the air temp, but this strikes me as a tad milder. Not quite sure
of wind direction as my WMII is saying North, but it's also calm, so it
maybe the last direction it stuck on. (5.98 hour of sunshine)

The satellite animation does appear to be showing some push from the SW
and no push yet from the north as it appears to be heading towards Russia:
http://wind.met.fu-berlin.de/cgi-bin...laymode=Endlos

Also I assume some parts of France are getting snow, looking at the
French Radar:
http://www.meteogroup.co.uk/uk/home/...ar/france.html
Although the Paris Airport Metars have been reporting rain/freezing rain
and snow.
Again much of Europe although cold, not cold enough to get excited about.

I think after the next couple of days we may have a better idea which
way the penny's going fall.

Keith you really must stop watching these fantasy charts ,you will make
yourself ill and DaveR will say I told you so.....
This side of the county reached 3.8C in the strong sunshine in my south
facing garden today and no lower than -3.2C last night.
You never know though ,were you in Southend that amazing weekend of Jan
10/11 1987 when 18" of snow fell in Southend with a temp opf -7C or so .I
saw icicles 10 feet long hanging from some roofs !.
I still feel the present very long snow drought in the south of England will
eventually come to an end,I just hope I live long enough to see it !

Oh yes, I remember it very well. There's a bypass as you go towards
Shoeburyness where only one lane was open and the snow was banked 10 to
12 feet high in places, my brother drove while I used the old Super 8
Cine Camera. Gee, those were the days.

I wasn't actually referring to any charts, just looking at the current
satellite animation etc. Temp currently 0.1°C here in Southend-on-Sea.

If the penny falls on the mild side there's going to be the biggest
load of egg on face seen in living memory.

And Paul Simons will be taking all the credit...

-1.8C here atm, which is colder than parts of Sweden and other Scandinavian
locations. Not a good sign I suppose.

Patience grasshopper :-)

If Sweden and the rest of Scandinavia has not cooled substantially by midday
Friday (T+72) then you can worry! Because by then the deep cold plunge into
the east should have started.

Will be careful! You are sounding like Joe B. I have nothing against
Americans, some of my best friends are, but I sometimes have trouble
translating ;-)

Default What do the cold lovers want?

I'm at a bit of a loss to know what the cold lovers want? It is now turning
very cold for the time of year and yet folk still seem to want more? I know
there is no snow on offer in the immediate future but we have known that for
a while. Also one high cell *has* to sink south to let the very cold arctic
surge come in, so you will see southwesterlies on some runs but they will
not be tropical maritime southwesterlies. Nothing has changed since
yesterday, the broad picture is still there with potentially the best winter
cold scenario we have had for years with a distorted and very stubborn omega
block in place!

But if you tell me what you want I'll see what I can do :-))

PS I like eggs, yum yum :-))

I'd like a polar low running down the Irish Sea if you could arrange that

I know what you are saying Will and you are right, it's just we have all
this cold weather but nothing ever seems to happen from one day top the
next, its just very cold, dry and dull. Would like a little excitement
to go along with it
