Default Davis Weatherlink monthly summary utility

As some will know, I've had a utility under development for some time
that offers much more flexible and comprehensive summarising of AWS
data logged by the Davis Weatherlink software than the WL program
itself provides. Feedback from the initial summarising utility
suggested that users preferred ease-of-use over ultimate flexibility
and so I've been working on a revised version of the program
('WLReporter' or WLR) that is as simple to use as is reasonably
possible for generating monthly summary data. There's now a first beta
version of the revised version available for testing if anyone is
interested to take a look.

To recap briefly on the available features: WLR is a Windows program
that is essentially a report generator for data stored in the Davis
Weatherlink archive files. (Any Davis station - ie VP/VP2/Wizard/WMII
- that is logging data to Weatherlink v5.3 or later will have data in
the right format, but earlier WL versions are not currently
supported.) So it's effectively an add-on to the standard WL software
and not a replacement for it.

Users can define and store for reuse their own reports from their own
selection of (currently, with more to come) 66 summary fields. WLR
will then generate a day-by-day table of daily and overall monthly
summary values and can provide output in PDF as well as text file
format. There is support for estimation of Bright Sunshine Hours for
those with solar sensors, observation times of 06-09 (+ midnight as a
default) and units can varied at will.

I would underline that the current version is still a relatively early
beta and so will doubtless have quirks and bugs. So it's not really
ready for reliable routine use yet, but if anyone here might be
interested in doing a little beta-testing then please email me at
for details of a download link.
