Default Lowest Jan barometer in 60 years in southern England

Minimum MSLP 967.9 mbar here (at 0538). This is just below the 968.4
mbar recorded in the memorable gale of 25 Jan 1990, and is therefore
the lowest in January since 1949 (when, at 15 h on 1 Jan 1949, the
barometer stood at 963.8 mbar at Heathrow).

It's far from the all-time lowest, however - 952.1 mbar here on 25
February 1989 (the lowest in southern England since 1821), and even as
recently as 10 March last year 961.1 mbar was recorded.

It seems that my 966.6 is a low value suggesting I may need to recalibrate
the offset. However the Teddington NPL value looks to be very close to
966mbar (+-0.3) so I am not sure how far out my value is and I need to look
at the deviation at the other end before taking any action.

Alan ... from the several Davis sites I look after I get the impression
that the pressure sensor is systematically a little high at high values,
and a little low at low values. But I must emphasise I haven't done
any proper analysis though ...it will, I'm afraid, have to take its place
in the queue.

20 miles to the east of you I had 966.4mb at 0610 this morning on the Davis
AWS. EGLC and EGSS both had 966mb at that time. Mind you I recorded 961.7mb
1535 on 10/3/08.

All the best

Looking at the GFS high res these values look about right. I was slightly
nearer the centre. I imagine somewhere around Canterbury was the lowest. Do
we know what the lowest official value was yet?
