Earlier on I'm sure I heard Boris Johnson say "it was the wrong quantity of
snow".

It was quite funny, in fact, and very tongue in cheek - more like 'The
right kind of snow but absolutely the wrong quantities'

But where were the gritters?

Ours were out Christmas period - dry, +5C + overtime. Nothing today though
when they were badly needed. My grandson's school nobly stayed open till 2pm
but to be honest the roads were dire and it would have been justified with
so many young parents, inexperienced in driving on packed snow, picking
their kids up. Naturally walking wouldn't be a cosideration. ;-(

One commentator pointed out that if Ken Livingstone had still been Mayor,
he'd have got a load of abuse over the failure of the public transport
systems. But because Boris comes over as a loveable buffon he seems to get
away with it.

Jon.

On the Steve Wright show they went across to the "London weather center"
where they spoke to what sounded like an inexpierinced forecaster (why
for such a popular show I am not sure). When the dj said "is there going
to be any more snow later in the week?" the forecaster stumbled and
paused "are you saying don't know?" mocked the dj.

"well you know us weather forecasters" said the forecaster..

and so another 10 year stereotype is born

Oh no he didn't - especially stopping the entire London bus network. And of
course Ken got to stick his oar in as well !
