5 a.m., Thursday 5th February 2009.
If anyone is thinking of driving in the Northampton(shire) area, DON'T!!! Very, very heavy snow in a brisk easterly wind. Where I live, the kerb lines disappeared about an hour ago, and there doesn't seem to be any let up in it at the moment. Local radio are saying the snow should ease up. Ha! Looking outside, if anything, it's getting worse. *** Met Office have issued a SEVERE WEATHER WARNING for the county. *** M1 NORTHBOUND CLOSED, and two lanes southbound closed due to accident (jack-knifed lorry) between J14 & J15, Milton Keynes to Northampton. *** A14 JUNCTION 2 WESTBOUND CLOSED due to jack-knifed lorries. *** A45 westbound at Brackmills in Northampton closed due to stuck lorries on the hill. *** ***A508 blocked by stuck lorries at Stoke Bruene. *** A43 very slow northbound from Towcester towards the M1 J15A Heavy snow reported around the Wellingborough and Rushden areas, with several roads in the area closed, including the A6. Delays on the railways between Northampton & Euston (30 minutes+). It's been a long night. 500Gb HDD installed, partitioned, formatted and filled with data. I'm off to bed. Drive carefully, everyone, and keep warm. jim Northampton |

The wife set out but the A605 between Oundle and Peterborough is fubar from what she said, and she has turned around to come back. Nice to finally get some after the poor effort earlier in the week though, I measured 4.5 inches on the garden table. |
