Note: I've to leave early today, hence this shorter analysis. Normal service
will be resumed tomorrow. Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon (GMT) on Tuesday. Issued 0504, 6th February 2009. The middle of the week will see cold conditions over much of the UK, albeit more settled than of late as a ridge builds to the west. GFS shows mild weather by the weekend but ECM is much less keen. ECMWF: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/da...mwf/ecmwf.html A trough covers the UK, with low pressure to the east. Winds are westerlies over England and Wales, with NW'lies elsewhere. On day 6 a ridge builds to the west, with NW'lies as a result. There are further NW'lies on day 7. MetO: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/da...ukmo/pslv.html MetO shows NW'lies for all, with the UK between a ridge to the west and complex low pressure to the NE. On day 6 the NW'lies persist. GFS: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/pslv_frame.htm NW'lies cover the UK, with low pressure to the east. The winds become SSW'lies on day 6 as a ridge moves eastwards, followed by WSW'lies on day 7 with high pressure to the south. GEM: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/da.../gem/pslv.html The Canadian run shows SW'lies for all with low pressure over Scotland. JMA: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rjma1201.gif The Japanese model shows WNW'lies with a ridge over Ireland and a low to the east. |
