Warm sunshine at times so far today.
But despite this the temperature still did not reach 10C, max. so far +9.5C and now at 1330 it is +8.8C. Noticed some snowdrop clumps in flower and even a daisy! Ideal day for working in the garden. GFS now coming into line for a bitter, snowy spell starting in March :-) Will (Haytor, Devon ,1017 feet asl) -- |

Starting a new job on March 2nd and have to negotiate some tricky hills so thanks for that update about the March weather ![]() Current temp 7.7c -- Graham |

GFS now coming into line for a bitter, snowy spell starting in March :-)
Stop it Will! Don't ruin my spring. I don't want anymore cold spells, let alone 'bitter'. Lovely in sunshine in the garden today. Plenty of daisies, crocuses, snowdrops and the odd daff out in flower here. (14:00) 10.8°C, RH 76%, DP 6.4°C, 1034 hPa (S), Wind 10 mph WNW. ________________ Nick. How can anyone look forward to cold after a day like today i will never
know, surely there must be medication for such things? Temp 12.2 in West Sussex and a glorious sunny day. Robbie "Nick Gardner" wrote in message ... Because it is still winter. Plenty of time for warm Spring and Summer days.
It is *only* 21st Feb. after all. Will -- Ridge Runner wrote: How can anyone look forward to cold after a day like today i will never know, surely there must be medication for such things? Because it is still winter. Plenty of time for warm Spring and Summer
days. Try and tell that to the frogs, bumblebees and ladybirds. The blackbirds are going mad too. It'll come as a shock if it goes cold again. Then again, we nearly always get a cold spell at some point during the real spring. Last April is an example. My Ma says there is always a touch of spring in a Devon winter. ________________ Nick. Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amslhttp://www.ottervalley.co.uk Daffodils are probably at their best here now, the really early ones are past it. Might post a few pics later. Today has been yet another lovely February day. A bit different to all those bleak predictions of cold & snow on USW made around 13th Feb. Cracking spell according to www.sennen-cove.com/today2.htm. Just look at that lovely wave www.sennen-cove.com/todaysurf.htm ! Surprisingly, the SST is around 9C here ( www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=62107 ) , wich is normal, only 1C down in this time last year and around 2C warmer than the same time in 1997. This despite last years poor summer followed by a rather cold winter. Very different story at the east end of the Channel & the southern North Sea. The nearby Gardens (Trengwainton etc.) have lost a lot of plants due to that severe early January frost. According to the NT it's on a par with 1987 for frost damage. However, unlike in 1987, Scilly missed any significant frost this winter. Time to stop rambling on Graham Penzance |

That's ok if you get those sort of temperatures!! Highest this year here is 9.0c on Feb 16th. Despite 6 hours sunshine today, (very sunny this afternoon to my surprise) still only managed to reach 8.2c and it felt cold in the wind. Current temp 6.5c Weston Coyney -- Graham |

They'll cope Nick, they are British after all! Just come back from a walk and the wind was surprisingly nippy, given how warm it felt earlier. Mind you it was coming straight off the snow covered eastern slopes of the Hameldown Ridge, quite a lot still up there in the gullies. Nearest natural snow patch to me is about 400 metres away, it looks like sugar now, just like the Alps in August :-) My Ma says there is always a touch of spring in a Devon winter. Oooh Ah! Plenty more dry weather to come this week, enjoy, and make the most of it! Will -- |

Anywhere south of Manchester appears to have been pretty clear, but here just cloud. Max temp 8.1C so all that sun clearly didn't do much for the temperature! -- Col Bolton, Lancashire 160m asl |
