Where's all this dang fangled wind coming from! Still, with the cloud
breaking up and the sun managing to shine now, the temperature is climbing quickly. Mean temps are getting back into the 'respectable' zone and there hasn't been a frost since the 12th. (1st - 21st) Mean min 2.0°C Mean max 8.0°C Mean 5.0°C. Sunshine still a tad disappointing at only 56 hours. This time last February 115 hours of the lovely stuff had shone. To my untrained eye there seems to be no sign of any impending bitter spell on any of the usuals (GFS etc). Does this mean we've escaped......... (10:40), 11.0°C, RH 89%, DP 8.0°C, 1030 hPa (F), Wind 12 mph WNW. ________________ Nick. Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

That wind has got up a bit now, gusting to 25 mph. Despite that the
temperature has climbed to 13.0°C making it the warmest day of the year so far and the warmest day since the 20th November. With this winter nearly over, the lack of 'warm' days has been quite noticeable. Compare this winter to last year. 2007/8 2008/9 10°C 56 Days 20 Days 13°C 20 Days 1 Day (so far) With El Nino conditions forecast for later this summer; the likelihood of a more active sun and the current global SST generally showing large areas of +ve anomalies, maybe this year will see a resumption of strong warming? ________________ Nick.
