If you live in a hilly area or in the north then you will see snow next week. The forecast is for a dramatic change starting on Monday to a spell of very windy and wet weather, with rain and showers turning increasingly to snow as the week progresses. In other words - a good old fashioned March; nothing unusual, extreme, exceptional, or whatever the media may wish to portray it as. Will -- |

First you'll need to say where you live. Will Do you think the old adage for March of 'In like a lion, out like a lamb' is going to apply this year...... After what has been one of the most benign winters I have experienced, i.e., stormless, it looks like next week could see the windiest weather of the autumn/winter/spring period. Last year, after a calm, sunny and warm February there was a storm on the 10th of March which gave the windiest weather of the whole year. I recorded gusts up to 60 mph on that day, which for this moderately sheltered, low-lying Devon location, that was windy! ________________ Nick. For me, the most significant feature of this Winter has been the lack of wind. Over recent winters there has been significant delays at Heathrow due to wind. This has been fairly rare this time - although the odd delay to snow which is a change! Phil |

I would hazard a guess that this autumn/winter has had the lowest number of gale warnings, let alone severe gales, for Heathrow for many years. Jon. |
