Anything that Alastair Campbell "can take issue with" can't be bad. (I havn't forgotten the Massacre of Glencoe :-( Cheers, Alastair. |

Alastair and Keith earlier I dowmloaded the Guardian produced making of the documentary and I've seen more objective reporting and science on the Jerry Springer show. It really is pathetic, the producer and director fit all my and any sceptics stereotypical prejudices, it was as if they were almost as green cartoon characters.Every greeny tick box was well and truly ticked. I haven't seen it all yet but will tonight, but don't hold out much hope of an impartial look at climate change. By the way Alastair I still haven't forgiven the Norman's, what they did to England, it should be seen as an international war crime of subjugation and occupancy. Every true Englishman should be compensated by the EEC. |

Alastair when you sit with your Tammy Shanter on watching Brave Heart please remember it was the Norman's that crushed Britain. In fact my instincts are pretty good the first Norman invasion of Scotland was in 1072 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normans#In_Scotland. Now back to the Age Of Stupid. I've just finished watching the making of the film. Now don't get me wrong Franny Armstrong the director and Lizzie Gillett the producers are well meaning enough but only in the lefty middle class 'oh I hate the western world 'way. The documentary is a whistle stop tour around the world, and fair do's Franny acknowledges their carbon footprint , but it all seems oh so naive. The main points they got completely wrong were Traveling top New Orleans and blaming AGW on Hurricane Katrina and never mentioning that inconvenient truth that Hurricanes are at a 30 year low. They want to speak to a top knob at Shell about the greed of the oil industry, they then scrapped that interview because in their opinion the man was boring. It's my guess the Shell chap run rings around them showing how much the oil was needed and how much investment goes into exploration and extraction. Anyhow Franny and Lizzie then go to Jordan to find anyone who is articulate enough and importantly has suffered at the hands of the American British invasion of Iraq.; Now of course many disagree with the invasion and that's a matter for conjecture but the fact all the deaths in Iraq have been at the hands of bombing, executions and murders from the various Muslim factions. Never mind its all Bush's fault. There's also a scene where so Iraqi kids meet their dad who drives up in the biggest gas guzzler you'll ever see. It also seem to be lost on our two tofu munching angels that the whole middle east economy needs to sell oil cos there ain't fucj& all else to earn income with. There was also a section where major landmarks like the Taj Mahal were flooded, well as this building is at a height of 169 meters than AGW got to go some and more to melt all the planets ice and even then if would reach the Taj Mahal is debatable. There was a lovely moment on a train in Europe where St. Franny is giving a sermon on AGW and how we are all going to die , and then a fellow passenger tells her to give it a rest for a while. There you a A typical spoilt lefty mantra of hate for the world that gave them their education and money to fly around the world making films about how all the poverty in the world is the fault of the West. It's a whishy washy 'hmmm aren't we all bad' film. The only part I did agree with was the acknowledgment of over-population |

Please don't take my word for it the director and producer meanwell , but as an old work colleague used to say 'the road to hell is paved with good intentions' I've only seen the making of the film, as for the main feature who know's? By the way anyone interested in the documentary if you want a copy -just to confirm I'm talking out of my back side-let me know? It's an AVI (199mb) and will play happily on VLC, Winamp or Media player, and of course will burn on a cd which I'm happy to bear the cost of. |
