Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon (GMT) on Friday. Issued
0504z, 20th April 2009. The models are mixed today. GFS builds high pressure to the north for the weekend, with easterlies as a result and the potential for rain in the south of the UK. ECM, meanwhile, has a weaker ridge further south with rain for the north and fine weather for the south. ECMWF: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/da...mwf/ecmwf.html England and Wales lie under a col, with SW'lies elsewhere from a trough to the west. On day 6 a ridge builds from the west, bringing WSW'lies to Scotland and Northern Ireland and northerlies elsewhere. WSW'lies cover the UK on day 7 as the ridge sinks southwards. MetO: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/da...ukmo/pslv.html Unavailable. GFS: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/pslv_frame.htm A col covers the UK, with light winds for all. On day 6 pressure builds to the north, leading to light ENE'lies for the UK. The ENE'lies persist on day 7 as pressure remains high to the north. GEM: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/da.../gem/pslv.html The UK lies under southerlies and SSW'lies, with a trough to the west. JMA: http://www.wzkarten.de/pics/Rjma1201.gif The Japanese run shows southerlies for all, again due to a trough to the west. |
