Default Dull again!!

Yes it's dull again here despite another forecast of fine and warm!

Only managed 5 hours on Tuesday and just over 4 hours yesterday and up
to midday today ZILCH!!

Why is it so difficult for the forecasters on Midlands today to forecast
this persistent cloud that seems to sit here even when the rest of the
midlands is fine??

Total sunshine hours for the month is 85 with 7 days remaining, average
is 125 hours, at this rate we won't get to 100 hours.

End of rant from DULL Weston Coyney.

Temp now struggled up to 12.2c, forecast was for 20c, no chance of that!

Hi Graham,

Cloudy and misty with fog at times above 450m asl here in Haytor too.
Day max. 13.6C (above normal), so you are tropical in comparison to upland
Devon!

Cooler in Penzance today. Max 14.5C. Some very hazy sunshine, but also
patchy low cloud. 17:15 - 17:30 dense patch of sea fog rolled over,
bringing visibility briefly down to 800m. The 1st real sea fog (as
opposed to warm sector misty drizzle) for a long time.

Well, if it's any consolation it has been annoyingly cloudier here for the
last few days than anticipated. Lots of low cloud and mist keeps coming in
off the sea making it feel chilly at times.

Today was also the coolest day since the 16th with a max of 16.4°C. Managed
8.5 hours of sunshine before the low cloud moved in this afternoon.

Despite the relative cloudiness of the last few days the monthly total
sunshine total is still respectable at 149 hours.

Ground now very dry and some rain is needed. Only 24.7 mm this month so far.
Mean max temperatures (1st - 23rd) are well above the normal with 16.6°C but
unlikely to beat the amazing April of 2007 which had a mean max of 19.7°C.

It's been lovely here in Northampton for the last few days. Out with the dog
every day in just a T-shirt and jeans, and starting to get a semi-decent sun
tan (me that is). No need for a rant at the moment, though I did notice this
evening that the water butt is starting to get a bit on the low side. Much
longer with no rain, and it'll be a toss up whether to keep watering the
pots, pay through the nose for metered water, or poach from next door's
outside tap.

Rain on the way Nick! Enjoy :-)
Prolonged dry spell though on the cards as we go into May.

Highest temperature in Haytor so far this year is 16.7C.
Rain so far this month 46.0 mm (AWS). Average for whole month is 92mm.
Soil is now starting to become dry but still moist and grass is growing
furiously and the daffodils are still looking splendid. We love dry weather
on Dartmoor as it is a welcome change :-)
Reservoir levels falling though.

Cloudy again today. That's 7 days with zilch sunshine this month so
still only 85 hours for the month so far (69%) with just 6 days left!

I had a mate in Stoke when I was at Univ. and no kidding whenever I went
there it was always cloudy.
Chin up, only another 7 months to wait till winter :-)
