Default Rainfall deficit

In the first five months of 2009, we have recorded 19% less rain
(211.2mm) than we would expect in this period in Coventry over the
past 30 years.

This has been the driest period from January through to May in our
region since 2005; in the past 35 years, only five years have recorded
less rain in this first 5 months of the year (1976, 1996, 1997 2003
and 2005) than 2009.

Dry here (as ever) with 205mm so far this year. Leaves continuing to drop
from silver birch tree and grass has that parched look. Large cracks
appearing in the baked clay beneath the grass in the local park.
