Default [OBS]Whipsnade Obsy, Beds, Sun 28 Jun 2009

0850z ENE F2-3 6km REFG 5Cu012 19.8/17.0 1016.9
RMK: 8St001 in FG till 0820z ... St evolved rapidly
to St fra then Cu fra. On Sat low rumbling thunder (no
rain, no lightning observed) 1720-1820, then I drove
to Luton. At Luton thunderstorm with heavy rain and
hail approx 1830-2000. Two bursts of hail, mostly
4-5mm, but at the end of second burst stones were
6-8mm diameter. 16.3mm ppn at Luton. Here at
Whipsnade hail not noted by neighbours and noticeable
rainfall gradient between the two sites.

09-09 Obsy: Tx 24.7 Tn 11.4 Tg 8.2 RR 2.9
09-09 Lodge: Tx 24.0 Tn 11.0 Tg 7.5 RR 4.9 sss 6.5

yet here in Aylesbury all hell broke loose 2 houses struck by
lightning less than 500 metres from where i was staying,that explained
the shotgun cracks,heavy rain but no hail , storm from 1900 to 21.30 .
storm rating i gave was 7/10
