in the whole of England there is one small red blob on the radar, it is tiny
yet at present is over my head and led to a retreat from the garden and a
long lazy summer lunch...b***ocks.

I have heard of localised rainfall but this is really annoying.

Looks like you're not alone now. The sea-breeze fronts are showing up well
over Yorks., Lincs., E Anglia and SE England.

The one I experienced yesterday was a slow burner. For about an hour and
half, I was able to do some gardening with light rain, cooling me, until
the heavens opened.
