Feeling really jealous of the reports of significant rain from not so
far away as I continue to walk round with my watering can! Managed 3mm in the guage after 2200Z which is the first measureable rain this month. Yesterday driving to the coast (Southwold) it was noteable how the sugar beet leaves in the fields were really flagging in the warmth. Also how the harvest has progressed rapidly in the dry spells we have had in past few weeks. Many fields now cleared, cultivated and prepared for next crop. When there have been showers they have mainly seem to be 10 minute wonders which the wind and sunshine quickly dried up. Yesterday at the coast In the early afternoon with a less than 5 kt NE'ly wind and 1 Okta of Contrail Ci only, it resembled the Med, (apart from the number of wasps!) with so many people on the beach and in the sea. Thin Ci invaded later in afternoon. A day to savour. PS on the previous occasion there was a warning for this area for 20 plus mm I also only got 3mm. |
