Rather surpisingly last nights air and grass mins were 0.3 and -0.4 C
respectively. Sky was mostly clear with a light NWerly but it had me a bit surprised, I must say. brian aberfeldy -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter. Excellent news!
Shows we are over the brink and it won't be long now before the nights draw in and it starts to turn colder once more. Not long to wait till the winter snows. Each to their own, I just love winter :-) Will -- "brian blair" wrote in message ... Rather surpisingly last nights air and grass mins were 0.3 and -0.4 C respectively. A cooler night would have been welcome here as it was a case of having to lie on top of the duvet with all the windows wide open. Mozzy bitten legs and feet are the result. I recorded a grass minimum of 15.3°C last night. Not the highest this summer but very near. ________________ Nick. Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

B-) The Rowan berries are well ripe and leaves starting to yellow, good crop this year. Hay making has finally got underway and is more or less complete. The longer grasses are yellowing and the House Martins/Swallows gathering on the phone lines before departing. -- Cheers Dave. |

Rain rate of 7mm/h though around 0400. I sleep with one sash window wide open all year apart from when it is very windy. Even in winter I find it more comfortable despite not ever having heating on in the bedroom. But then I like a cooling breeze! Never have any problems with insects up here! The odd midge perhaps outside on the rare occasions the wind drops. Will (Haytor, Devon, 1017 feet asl) -- |

I wouldn't expect to see the swallows or house martins leave until the end of September at the earliest, more likely the 1st or 2nd week of October. There are a few swifts still around, usually they have gone by the middle of August. ________________ Nick. Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

Each to their own, I just love winter :-) Will -- The later part of winter (say mid Jan onwards) can be fun, there's good chance of snow *and* it's getting lighter in the evenings. On the other hand I never particularly look forward to the time just after the clocks go back. Not cold enough for snow in lowland southern England, too late for summer warmth, and the double whammy of the clocks going back and an early solar noon. Luckily it's only for a few weeks though....
