A cooler day yesterday, with very limited sunshine. Max 19.7C making
it 1 of only 2 days since 4th to fail to reach 20C. However, the humidity was much lower, so no mistiness, in fact the visiblity was very good. It's been largely sunny since 09:30, when the patchy sc broke and moved away eastwards, now seems largey reduced to a band over Devon. Back to the small cumulus inland/sunny coast regime down here. With the sunshine warming up again after a cooler night than for some days (min 13.7C) Back to 20.2C at 11:45 Very good visibility and a glassy sea in the Bay. Cloud well broken on Scilly, www.scillyman.co.uk/Web_Cam.html where it's the 1st time I've seen the temperature over 20C for quite some time http://www.weatherlink.com/user/tape...main&headers=1 so should be a warm mainly sunny afternoon here. The air certainly seems to be inherently warmer in Cornwall than this mornings forecasts suggested. Graham Penzance |

Graham Penzance One feature of this summer has been the predominance of days when the warmest spots in Cornwall (& Scilly) have been right on the coast rather than inland, and also near the SW tip of the County. A reflection of the large amounts of cloud there have been just inland, and the fact that the sea temperature has been near or rather above normal near the Cornish coast much of the summer. SST now near 18C even in the strong tidal currents around the Sevenstones. Current temperatures are a good example. Scilly St Marys 20C, St Martins 21C Penzance 20.8C at my site, 20C at the seafront heliport. Cardinham 17C Graham Penzance |

Cardinham *17C Graham Penzance- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Eventually reached 21.5C. A very pleasant and mainly sunny day in the far SW. I wish weather forecasters wouldn't keep coming out with statements like 'always cloudier & cooler along the coast of Cornwall' as happened at 18:30 today, when totally the reverse was the case, it's been glorious. www.sennen-cove.com/lbtdy.htm . It only shows their total ignorance of what is actually happening. Of course, in the old days they had reports from coastal stations, now they believe whatever the models tell them. Even so, you would think they would have noticed how warm & sunny it was out on Scilly. I'll shut up now, I know I've said it all before. Graham Penzance |

No sign of the cold front over Scilly http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/..._pressure.html having any impact. www.scillyman.co.uk/Web_Cam.html . It seems to have withered away. Nice clean wave on the north coast http://www.camvista.com/england/othe...sunsetsurf.php (Gwithian Stevenson Screen in foreground) Graham Penzance |
