Default For Weather Observers & (OT) Dolphins

As the number of MetO stations continue to decrease, we've now lost
Newquay (presumably fell off a cliff when drunk) I thought it might be
useful to post some local sites where actual weather is still being
reported.

Newquay & Penzance heliport are still on www.xcweather.co.uk/ (The
heliport is actually on the edge of Marazion marsh, and very exposed
to the SW, which Penzance isn't - it's really more typical of
Marazion)

St Martin's Scilly http://www.weatherlink.com/user/tape...main&headers=1
Not in Cornwall, but a useful westerly outpost.

The Island St. Ives http://www.nci-stives.org/weather/Cu...antage_Pro.htm
.. Due to it's position stuck out on a headland, it's a bit windy!

I also like looking at the webcams, especially to spot the sunniest
parts, it is useful having a beach with every conceivable aspect
within just a few miles.

A few of the best

Gwennap Head www.landsendweather.info/

Talking of Gwennap Head, a pod of 200 common dolphins swam close in
around Land's End on 17th. A pod of that size is very rare even well
out to sea. The most I've ever seen close up is around 25. There have
also been a number of Bottlenose Dolphins & Harbour Porpoises around
lately.
