Default Thickness datasets available via NOAA/ESRL

.... I post this in case others use this source: I use it all the time
.....

At this link:-
http://www.cdc.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/db_s...ubmit=Sear ch
(i.e. various thickness-related datasets)

the Monthly mean data have not been updated since 2009/1. Elsewhere on
the
site, the datasets are fully up to date ... for example the
Geopotential
datasets are up to 2009/7.

I asked NOAA if this was a policy change, or an error? It is possible
of course to work out
the thickness from the 1000 and 500 hPa output, but this procedure is
'clunky' and subject to error.

The reply I've just had is that it would need some 'tweaking' within
the system - but could be back on line as early as this evening. It
appears that a lot of work has been going on at CDC/ESRL to
re-configure datastreams, presentation etc., and this one got left
behind!

Martin.
