Default No lightning - not a flash

I haven't seen a single flash of lightning this year yet. Not only here in
Haytor, but anywhere. When I mentioned this the other day another person
said, "you're lucky?". LUCKY!!!!! I couldn't believe he said that :-(
Come on, please, just once ..... I have never ever gone a whole year without
seeing lightning.
Perhaps the gods think I get enough weather with regular snow and rain each
year :-)

I have also experienced extremely little thunder and lightning in the
12 months September 2008 - August 2009 in the Southampton area. There
were two occurrences in June, on the 11th and 25th (though the 25th
was in Purbeck, Dorset, rather than Southampton) and I apparently
missed some on the morning of the 7th (when I was in Cheshire). Apart
from those two, all my thunder and lightning for Sep 2008-Aug 2009 has
been overseas: one in Spain in Sep 2008 and three in Germany in July.
So, despite spending most of this past year in England, overseas
storms have outnumbered home ones by two to one.

Let's hope summer 2010 is a more typical 1989-2006 summer, with
frequent hot spells interspersed with proper thundery spells.

Nick

I reckon it all moved north. According to MetO stats, thunder is
heard on three to four days in an average year here. We had a
week earlier in the summer with thunder and lightning every day,
and there was at least one other thunderstorm earlier on.
