I just love the comment from Nasser Hussain at the One Day International
from The Oval, when someone commented on the lovely evening Sky over London. "You can get a full days cricket in down here, travel north, you watch the rain, then travel back again" LOL -- Keith (Southend) http://www.southendweather.net e-mail: kreh at southendweather dot net |

It's exactly the same down here in the SW, people down here think that the SW is the warmest part of the country, er no - that's the SE, especially London. Will -- |

I thought SW England *was* the warmest part of the country, if you look at the yearly mean at least. Obviously I'm talking about lowland/coastal areas, not where you live ![]() -- Yearly means are mis-leading. Lowland SW certainly has the mildest winters but summer maxima (which is what most tourists experience) are lower than the SE, but the peception seems to be that people come here in summer for the warmth - admittedly sea temperatures are relatively high and it can be very sunny right on the coast possibly enhancing the mis-perception. And yes, folk usually get a shock when they come up onto Dartmoor, especially in winter. I remember a couple of years ago we had a consultant come up to talk about making a Will and it started to snow, she was very distracted by it and keen to get back down, despite my saying that it would not amount to much - it didn't, just over a cm.
