First snow here in theAlps.
Hi,
The frist snow has arrived today.Yet last week the temp was over 25oC!! I don't think it will stay on the ground for long since it is wet underneath and we haven't tidied the garden up yet or put our snow tyres on. Interesting article about the weather we are having in Austria.- Record
braking high temp last week and the earliest snowfall in Salzburg since records began. First snow here in theAlps.
Hi,
Just heard our local lift is going to be open this weekend It had 70 cm of snow this morning and still snowing!! So time to get our snow tyres on and get the winter stuff out!!! Will -- Not sure if this is typical but low temperatures seem to be typical at the moment all over western central Europe, with even the south west German lowlands registering single-figure maximum temperatures. Quite an abrupt change from summer to winter, remembering how hot central Europe was in August. Nick |

First snow here in theAlps.
Yes we had record temps here last week up to 26 Oc in parts of austria and
now........ It is still snowing here-since Monday!! This happens when we get a northerly wind. Temp is -1oC. the ski area behind us is reporting 1 meter of snow!! http://www.hochkoenig.at/Bilder_und_...Schneefall.htm I will try and get some pictures today!! We have about 40cm of snow now but we need to get out to put the summer stuff away and snow tyres on,etc. The snow has come to early for us!! I'm just back from a holiday in the Bernese Oberland. A fair amount of snow on the mountains, especially following a cold and wet day last Friday.
