Default AWS temperature problem

My Vantage Pro 2 has lost its temperature device, and the console is
showing blanks for 'temp out', 'hum out' and 'dewpoint'. I have had a
brief look at the AWS itself and all looks well. I made sure the
connection for temp was firmly in place, without any change in the blanks.

Has anyone had this problem and solved it? Is there, for instance, a
replacement available for the temp device?

Default AWS temperature problem

Hi

Mine failed last week, exactly as you describe. I did try dismantling
and cleaning and it briefly worked again. I then contacted
http://www.mcmurdo.co.uk/ and they sent me a new sensor out. It
arrived within 24hrs and the VP2 is working fine again. Mine was out
of guarentee so cost £50. I got the feelin there is "known" fault
with these sensors and that I was lucky to get 3 years use out of
mine. I think they cost considerabley more normally. Fairly easy to
fix yourself.

Is this a problem with the VP, as I have had my WMII for 10 years and
never encountered a problem with the temperature sensors? (Touch wood).

I have had a VP1 since 2001 and the temperature sensor is still OK. The VP2
may use a different sensor for all I know.

Thanks Paul and Keith. It's good to know I'm not alone with my problems.
I'm beginning to think Davis are not as good as they think they are.

I'll try McMurdo. I'll report back, in case yet more people have this
problem.

For anyone who's not already aware of it, the VP1/VP2 T/H sensor is
covered as a topic (which also links to some relevant related topics)
on our VP knowledgebase, which you can access at:

http://vp-kb.wikispaces.com/Sensor+Errors2

NB Not all of the KB is publicly viewable without registration -
please see the Full Wiki Access topic - but the T/H topic itself is
unrestricted.
