It's an interesting(!) bit of weather on the way for most people. Irish
Met Office warning out at 10:29...very precise that...was for:

Rain warning
Rain will extend northwards across the country Saturday night, turning
heavy in many areas. Totals will exceed 25 mm in places, mainly over
Munster and Leinster, and may reach 35 - 40 mm locally. Clearer weather
will spread from the Atlantic later Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Meanwhile a more recent update on wind issued at 12:00:
Small Craft Warning
Southwest winds will reach force 6 at times today on coasts from Loop
Head
to Erris Head to Fair Head

Interesting, thanks for the heads up, Joe.

...........and not even weather advisory for the SW. If there is a
flash warning as we wake up tomorrow and rain heavy enough to match
the warning actually falls (which seems likely from the models to a
poorly equipped Internet watcher, some people who've planned
activities tomorrow morning in the SW, on the back of not a hint of
any severe weather for this area of the world, would have every reason
to ask questions of the service from the MetO that we've been given.
Let's judge that at outcome tomorrow; the MetO could still be
completely correct in not issuing any kind of advisory/warning for
Sunday and we may get nothing more than a, windy and wet day - as has
happened with recent flash warnings of severe, or extreme weather. If
it's anything like the last one that G referred to for Cornwall, the
weather will be through some far western areas before the warning for
that area is actually issued. *))

====================

Well recipients of my once weekly update for Dartmoor already got this on
Thursday evening:

" Saturday should be a bright and fresh dry day with sunny intervals.
Winds will be moderate or fresh SW'ly and back south or SSE'ly during the
evening and strengthen as clouds thicken bringing rain by midnight.
Temperatures up to 11-13C.

Heavy rain on Saturday night into Sunday with southerly gales. Rain clears
away Sunday morning as winds swing west to NW'ly strong to gale force.
However, showers will quickly develop and some will be heavy with hail
later. Temperatures will start around 10C but will not rise much during
the day and will fall in the afternoon to around 7-9C. Showers easing
overnight as the wind drops a bit. "

Nothing severe in there really but it won't be pleasant if 'out and about'
.
Happy to judge at outcome!

OK self judgement at outcome.
Overnight rain and wind - pretty good, timing very good as rain started
yesterday evening and cleared at around 0930. Wind took a while to get going
overnight though.
Showers over-cooked - we only had light showers, but we did have some and
required donning of waterproofs.
Temperatures predicted to be too low. Under-estimated strength of warm
conveyor, about 2-3 degrees too low.
Marks out of 10 - six.
Having said that all who read the forecast (that I know about) thought that
it was very useful indeed to have available on Thursday evening. I'm happy
with the outcome in a tricky situation, and well done NWP!
