I had noticed Ojmjakon in Siberia was about 4.5°c above normal for
October this year, but in the last week of the month the temperature
dropped like a stone and is where is should be now.

Yes, temporary synoptics is what I'd put the slow start to the
freezing down to. There's nothing that this suggests that this will
continue, the freezing has accelerated again and the temperatures in
that part of the world are cold.

Blimey the only tme I've known it to be worse was when that Erik the Red
geezer killed a bloke for nicking his shovel and was banished to that
Greenland place.
