A bright, calm winter's day. A refreshing change from all the wind and rain
for the last month or so. It's going to take a lot of drying up.

Lots of high cloud around today making the sun very hazy, despite it
actually shining for most of the day. The hazy skies dulled the sun enough
for the sunshine recorder to switch off for long periods even though there
was a perceptible shadow. Total sunshine for today was 4.0 hours.

It was quite cold too with a max of only 7.0°C but this felt pleasant enough
in the light winds and sunshine. Overnight minimum was 2.2°C. Interestingly
there was a short grass frost. The grass was dewy at 08:30 this morning
(grass temp 0.1°C) but by 09:15, even though it was sunny, the grass temps
dropped to minus 0.8°C giving a late, but brief grass frost. By 10:05 the
grass temps had gone above freezing.

Quite a cold evening under starry skies but cloud seems to have moved in
recently and the temperature is slowly lifting. The grass temps have lifted
quite a lot from a low of -1.2°C at 18:00 to 2.6°C now.
