Turning particularly chilly in Helsinki now and interestingly Amsterdam
with a maximum of -1.3°C, I wonder if fog was involved here? Still
somewhere to go before any advection will have a marked affect.

Thanks for that Keith - the IR animations for Scandinavia show the push
of deep cold air pushing down (As Will forecast!!) and hence the rapid
plunge in temperatures.

Paris was also pretty cold - perhaps fog or low cloud.

Many thanks

Brussels and Paris also getting chilly, with maxes of 0.0 and 0.8
respectively. The last few days have shown just how quickly the
continent can cool down once the Atlantic feed is cut off, even without
any advection of really cold air from further east or north.

Still somewhere to go before any advection will have a marked affect.

Yep.

0.0°C at Brussels Airport and just a touch warmer in the city: 1.1°C.
Brilliant sunshine but a sharp NE breeze. Gloves on for the first time
this winter ! Expected to last through the week as well
