Default [OBS] Wokingham 18Dec09

Wokingham 0900z 010 09/15kt 30km 1St008 3Sc030 5Sc060
-0.6/-2.7 QFF 1014.8 +2.1 in 3hr Total 6 okta
RMK 3Sc040. Snow lying 7 cm. Difficult to get a level depth, I took
several samples around the enclosure field, and it varied
between 4cm and 10cm.
Period of snow from 2220z to late in night. TSR inoperative due to snow/ice.
TBR, with heater, lost nearly half the fall due to evaporation. Side roads
icy
where traffic has compacted the snow, gritted roads slushy. School caretaker
said it took 1 hour to get to Wokingham from Bracknell this morning due
to problems on the A329M, a journey that normally takes 10 to 15 mins.

09-09 Screen max 4.1 min -1.6 grass min -2.0 (under snow)
Rain 3.4 Sun (00-24) 3.2
AWS max 4.1 min -1.4

Have you not got a good old copper 5 inch gauge then, Bernard?
I did four 5 inch 'plugs' around the garden. Pretty consistent at around 6 mm equiv.
Reminds me of my observing days at Farnborough in the late 70's - did a few water equivalents
then!
