Big inversion in these parts last night. North westerlies with the
added adiabatic keep temperatures up in Copley but further down in the Vale of York they soon fall light at the surface in these situations. RAF Leeming once informed that an upper W'ly / NWly wind less than 20KT at 2000ft usually brings flat calm and inversions to the Vale of York. Last night's mins (Copley -5.1C and Lead Mill -7.4C for comparison) Topcliffe -13C Dishforth -10C Teesside airport -9C Leeming -8C Ken Copley |
